Celebrating the Grand Opening of Alexandra Park’s Second Revitalized Multi-Sport Court

On September 17th, Alexandra Park came alive with the grand opening of its second revitalized multi-sport court. The community gathered on a beautiful sunny afternoon, eager to witness the transformation of this space into another hub for sport and connection.

This latest court builds on the momentum from last year’s opening of the first refinished basketball court, which quickly became a popular destination in Alexandra Park. The success of last year's event laid the foundation for the completion of the court revitalization project this year, with the same enthusiasm carrying over and reinforcing the positive impact these play areas have on fostering unity in the local community. Notable improvements to the second court include a professionally resurfaced playing area, new interlock sport tiles, as well as new poles and hoops.

The Alexandra Park community continues to evolve as part of an ongoing revitalization initiative led by Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) in partnership with Tridel. This ambitious project is focused on transforming the neighbourhood, not just by replacing aging infrastructure, but by creating a modern, vibrant community that serves both current and future residents.

The event itself was a celebration of the community’s love for sport, especially basketball. From high-energy dunks to an exciting 3-on-3 tournament, participants had ample opportunity to showcase their skills. The lively atmosphere was made even more memorable with good music, delicious pizza, and special appearances by John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Challen Rogers of the Toronto Rock.

The day wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated support of several key sponsors and partners. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Their Opportunity, the John Tavares Foundation, Rogers, Time2Play Sports, Atkinson Co-op, Toronto Community Housing (TCHC), and the Alexandra Park Community Centre (APCC). Each of these organizations played an essential role in making this revitalization project a reality, working together to ensure the community has the resources and spaces it needs to thrive.

As the second court opens, it stands as a powerful reminder of the impact collaboration can have on building stronger, more resilient communities. This project reflects Tridel’s unwavering commitment to community building and fostering economic development in Alexandra Park and beyond. By providing accessible, high-quality spaces for recreation, Tridel aims to support the well-being of local residents and encourage community connection through sport. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made this event possible and to all who joined in the celebration!

As we look ahead, we invite you to discover the upcoming MRKT Alexandra Park community, an exciting next chapter in the evolution of this vibrant neighbourhood.
