Tridel’s 10 Most Iconic Communities in Toronto
Tridel has been shaping the landscape of Toronto and the GTA with its new communities for over 90 years. Making a strong architectural statement and complementing their surroundings, these 10 iconic Tridel condominiums have become city landmarks, from North York to the waterfront.
Leslie & Sheppard – Scala
Driving north along Leslie Street, Scala’s unique design is hard to miss. This one-of-a-kind architectural marvel rises above the surrounding tree canopy, making itself visible from miles away. Inspired by the Italian word for "stairs," Scala features a stepped design of cascading terraces, offering expansive private outdoor spaces. Just north of the Scala condominium, Tridel helped revitalize Toronto Community Housing’s Leslie Nymark community, replacing 121 units and completing the first of Tridel’s three TCHC revitalization projects.
Yonge & Sheppard – Hullmark Centre
The iconic Hullmark Centre marks the southeast corner of the busy Yonge & Sheppard intersection, with two striking towers rising from its curved front facade. Completed in 2014, Hullmark Centre is a multi-use community, home to residential suites, office spaces, and retail shops. With direct access to the Sheppard-Yonge subway station on TTC Line 1 (Yonge-University), Hullmark Centre provides seamless connectivity across the city. More than just a place to live, Hullmark Centre was pivotal to revitalizing the Yonge Street cultural corridor in North York, integrating living, working, and shopping to create a dynamic hub for people to come together.
Yonge & Finch – Meridian
Located on a quiet side street just west of Yonge, Meridian is an oval shaped twin-building community with a shared podium that brought new homes to a rapidly growing area north of downtown Toronto in 2007. Meridian continues to stand as a showcase of timeless design today with an unforgettable lobby boasting elegant and timeless interior design, featuring a grand staircase. The prime location is just steps from Finch Station allowing for easy access to the rest of the city.
Yonge & 401 – Skymark Centre at Avondale
Tridel completed Skymark Centre at Avondale in 2003, with the second tower to follow in 2004. Driving along Highway 401, the tall, beige Skymark Centre twin towers peek through the several condominiums that exist today. At the time, Skymark set a new standard for high-rise living in North York, introducing large suites up to 3,245 sq. ft. This community helped establish the area as an up-and-coming condominium district with many other towers built in the area following Skymark Centre.
Kennedy & 401 – Metrogate
Rising along the skyline near Kennedy and Highway 401, Metrogate is an extraordinary community in Scarborough. Completed over the course of nearly 15 years, Metrogate was revolutionary for its time, turning 17 acres of asphalt into a thriving mixed-use community, and earning LEED Neighbourhood Development (ND) Silver Stage 2 certification for its sustainability-focused design. With 7 towers and over 70 townhomes comprising over 2,600 homes, 5,000 sq. ft. of retail area, two daycare facilities and a large 1.7 acre central park at its heart, Metrogate exemplifies Tridel’s Built for Life® philosophy, creating a legacy of community and sustainability, while playing an integral role in the growth of Scarborough.
Bloor & Avenue – No. 10 Bellair
Located in the heart of Toronto's upscale Yorkville neighbourhood, No. 10 Bellair is one of Tridel's most prestigious communities. Completed in 2003, this luxurious condominium is renowned for its opulent finishes, proximity to high-end retailers, and world-class dining. For Tridel, No. 10 Bellair marked the delivery of one our first ultra-luxury residences, while contributing to the impressive transformation of the fashionable Yorkville area.
Victorian Bloor & Sherbourne – James Cooper Mansion
James Cooper Mansion marks a significant chapter in Tridel’s journey. Integrated into the heart of this community is a historic 19th-century mansion, carefully preserved to juxtapose and complement the modern high-rise tower. The process to restore and relocate the heritage home was long and meticulous, but ultimately rewarding, as this important piece of Toronto’s history now serves as a striking focal point and a luxurious amenity space for residents. Completed in 2011, James Cooper Mansion beautifully and seamlessly bridges past and present, reflecting how modern architecture can still embrace and uphold the city’s rich heritage.
Queen & University – FORM
FORM embodies the creative spirit of its vibrant surroundings, just south of the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) on McCaul Street. This Entertainment District community was designed with a focus on artistic expression and deep connection to the local arts community. FORM also advanced sustainable condominium living by incorporating environmental features like CarbonCure concrete which reduces the building's carbon footprint, and an innovative heating/cooling system which contributed to its LEED-Gold Certification.
Front & Spadina – The Well
Spanning over 7 acres of land, The Well is Toronto’s hottest new downtown community. Completed in 2024, The Well features a vibrant public outdoor retail area, sheltered by a stunning glass canopy that elegantly arches over pedestrian pathways, creating an inviting atmosphere for shopping, dining, and socializing in any weather.
Tridel at The Well offers two distinct living opportunities in this master-planned community: urban living in two condominiums along Front Street, and boutique luxury living along the revitalized, historic Wellington Street. The Well has quickly solidified itself as an iconic downtown landmark.
Harbourfront & Financial District – Ten York
One of Toronto’s tallest residential towers, Ten York rises prominently above the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto’s South Core. This 69-storey flatiron tower presented quite the challenge during construction due to its immense height, proximity to the lake and major vehicular arteries, and limited land use. Marked architecturally by the vertical fins on its podium and angled glass crown, many people know Ten York for its daring, jutted podium, as you climb the Gardiner on-ramp. Ten York was also Tridel’s first smart home community, featuring an Innovation Suite, which showcased cutting-edge smart home technologies, some of which are now included as standard in our new communities.
Walking through the streets of Toronto, it’s near impossible not to come across a Tridel community. With over 200 condominium communities built to date, selecting just 10 was no easy feat; and this list would be incomplete without mention of one of the most remarkable waterfront communities this city has ever seen.
Downtown Waterfront – Aqualuna at Bayside Toronto
Aqualuna is the fourth and final tower in the transformative Bayside Toronto community by Hines and Tridel. A stunning example of ultra-luxury on the waterfront, Aqualuna is defined by its wave-like scalloped terraces and twisting twin towers. The unique design ensures nearly every suite benefits from unobstructed lake views, with balconies and terraces creating expansive outdoor spaces for residents. The bold bronze façade and dynamic architecture bring a sense of movement to the building, echoing the waves of Lake Ontario.
