Tridel’s 2024 in Review
Celebrating 90 Years and Many Other Exciting Milestones
From breaking ground to reaching roof tops and everything in between, this year showcased Tridel’s continued commitment to home building in the GTA and our industry leadership. To top it all off, we celebrated 90 years of home building – an incredible achievement.
Celebrating Community Milestones
There are over 24 Tridel and Deltera (member of the Tridel Group) communities currently selling, or under construction in the GTA. With so many sites, that’s a lot of activity in one year! Let’s look at what happened in 2024 by the numbers.
Started construction on 4 communities – including Queen Church and Harbourwalk, as the first builder to break ground in Mississauga’s Lakeview Village
Sold out 5 communities – Via Bloor, Via Bloor 2, Aquabella at Bayside, Scala and Bloor Promenade
Topped-off 10 communities
Have 17 cranes in the sky
Constructed 586 floors, above ground
Placed nearly 13,000 tonnes of rebar
Poured an estimated 100,250 cubic metres of concrete
Have approximately 10.2 million sq. ft. under construction
Creating Impactful Change
Building communities is about more than bricks and mortar, it’s about getting to know, help and collaborate with the people who live there. Tridel believes in contributing to strong, prosperous, and vibrant communities, it’s engrained in everything we do.
This year we were able to:
Procure over $52,000 in goods and/or services from local, diverse-owned, or social enterprises
Give more than $100,000 toward scholarships for students
Volunteer 750+ hours toward community events and initiatives
Host five training sessions on mental health and inclusivity as part of our commitment to mental health in the workplace and DEI initiatives
In Alexandra Park, we completed the revitalization of its community courts, adding a multi-sport court to the newly renovated basketball court finished in 2023. The unveiling of this beloved community amenity was celebrated with a celebrity basketball game, featuring John Tavares from the Toronto Maple Leafs and local Toronto celebrities.
Other noteworthy initiatives included piloting a micro-retail program in Alexandra Park helping small businesses from the community with rent and start-up funds, working with the Urban Indigenous Education Centre to host two students over the summer, and the unveiling of our Land Acknowledgement artwork on Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Empowering The Next Generation
As the principal and founding sponsor of the BOLT Foundation, Tridel is incredibly proud of the impact this organization has had, empowering under-resourced youth, as well as shaping and strengthening the future of the construction industry. In 2024, BOLT was able to raise over $635,000, directly supporting programs that allow young people to explore careers in skilled trades and construction. To date, BOLT has awarded $1.9 million in scholarships to over 575 recipients, supported 300 apprenticeships, and engaged 780 participants in Day of Discovery events.
The BOLT Foundation also proudly donated to Westview Centennial Secondary School, to assist with necessary upgrades to the school’s construction department. Aligning with BOLT’s vision, the school’s goal is to connect under-resourced youth who have an interest and a passion to careers in construction. This contribution will help empower the next generation of skilled tradespeople with the tools to succeed, while aiding to the future growth of the construction industry.
Building Award Winning Communities
We proudly received recognition from the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) and Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA), reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, exceptional customer care, and the creation of vibrant, well-connected communities. These awards include:
BILD - Green Builder of the Year, for an unprecedented 15th time, more than any other home builder in the GTA
BILD - Best Customer Care Award
BILD - Best Community, Built for The Well, where Tridel has three residential condominiums - Classic Series I, Classic Series II, and the Signature Series
OHBA - Green Building Award for the Signature Series at The Well
Our condominiums’ leading interior design was also recognized by the LOOP Design Awards and SBID International Design Awards.
Additionally, Deltera was recognized with the 5-Star Safety Culture Award for the third consecutive year, emphasizing our continuous commitment to safety and employee well-being.
Evolving Design Trends
Our Design Services team welcomed homeowners from seven condominium communities this year - Queen Church, Harbourwalk, Edenbridge, Royal Bayview, The Dupont, MRKT, and Aqualuna at Bayside - to complete their design appointments. In total, the team conducted over 490 appointments, helping homeowners personalize their future homes.
As an industry leader, we strive to keep current with evolving design trends and listen closely to homeowner feedback to ensure suite designs and finishes remain modern and aligned with customer needs and preferences. Visitors to The Lobby, our Design Studio, will notice new kitchen designs, updated built-in displays, upgraded finishes and much more, that will be available for future communities.
Pushing Boundaries Through Innovation
As a leader in sustainable building, this year Tridel earned a LEED-Platinum certification for Aquabella at Bayside; two LEED-Gold certifications for Bianca and Scala; and two Fitwel 2-Star certifications for MRKT Alexandra Park and The Well Signature Series.
Most recently, we unveiled our next-generation Innovation Suite at The Well, designed to include new technologies that push the boundaries of sustainable living through health & wellness, optimizing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
Additionally, an innovative renewable energy process called Deep Lake Water Cooling, is now in use at The Well. The system currently serves 756 suites and reduces energy load, by the equivalent of turning off over 45,000 light bulbs. As part of our commitment to sustainability and waste reduction, our teams also repurposed over 9,852 tires (translating to more than 220,000 pounds of recycled rubber) to be used for acoustic isolation.
Together, we've achieved remarkable milestones, brought vibrant communities to life, and continue to create homes that inspire. As we close out 2024 and our 90th year, we’re grateful for the growth, innovation, and collaboration of our teams, the remarkable history that Tridel has written, and look forward to the bold, exciting future ahead.
